Though if it really was a free2play account with basically no playtime it might as well be ok to just forget about it and make a new account. Just be aware of that with a Steam GW2 account your options to buy anything for GW2 are limited to using your Steam wallet for it. Any non Steam way of buying anything won't work.
So after many months I decide to give Gw2 a try but I can't log in, woohoo. So I try to recover my account but it requires a serial code which is apparently in my email. So I go to my email but can't find anything from Arena Net/Guild Wars 2, so what the fuck am I mean to do.
- Account email address (and I'm emailing from this) - Display name (the one like username.1234) - The postcode I think I had at the time - The date and time I received the "Welcome to Guild wars 2" email from my registration. And I'm awaiting response on photo ID.

There is nothing you can do besides making a ticket. You can probably recover both accounts if you can dig up enough info to prove you own them. Ticket is the way to go, I once had to recover my account after it was hacked. Support asked me for my game key and we were golden.

As mentioned work with support. Things like past billing, ID or other unique identifiers might work. In recovery it is all about proving to the CSR representative that the account is actually yours via showing information only the original account holder can have/know.
Get in contact and then see what you can do. I also retrieved my account two times, which was only possible due to the generous support from the team.
