Below level 80 crafting is pretty much useless and even a lot of level 80 stuff is useless, but that's because gear is so readily available in this game. You can even buy sets of level 80 exotic gear for karma, for example, or from the TP for very little gold. But yeah, crafting is really a level 80 affair.
and that's not counting all those bound materials that don't have a price tag but that can take a while to acquire by a solo player. According to the Guilds page under gw2efficiency, the current total cost of a maxed out guild is 15,672g, 711,262 aetherium and 57,281 favor. A lot. My guild, TACO, is a small one.
It's been awhile; but I recall reading long ago that some chests (wasn't sure if it included Black Lion) were better to wait until Max Lvl to open for maximizing the chance to receive the 'best gear'. Is this still true? I also received a chest yesterday that contains an 'Exotic' from Daily Login Rewards. Thank you!
For players just starting Guild Wars 2, here are some tips to accumulate karma efficiently: 100% Each Starter Zone – Completing Queensdale, Wayfarer Foothills, etc gives good starter karma. Gather and Explore – Harvesting nodes and exploring the world rewards karma. Boost XP Gain – Faster leveling means faster karma from level-up rewards.

9k4W. You can skip the tutorial by using a home portal stone and a level 80 boost. Idk if this is common knowledge, but I just made a character and super didn't want to do the tutorial again, so I used a home portal stone, then a level 80 boost (which also teleported me to the silverwastes). You can also get to Heart of Maguuma via a guild hall.

After review, crafting for about $5 gets the character to max in a reported roughly 2 hours. Bear in my mind, the $5 is based off gw2crafts.net. The 2 hours is from player reports. Most how to level fast videos suggest about 25 hours or so. The difference between 2 hours and 25 hours is worth $5. I could find no better way.
I think the rest depend on your preference. For general QoL, you’ll want to at least get Fireball (2) and enhanced wall spring (3). The air rescue bond of vigor thing is a bit too unpredictable to bother with by itself. Bear in mind the enhanced wall latch only works if you aren’t pressing space to ascend at the time, at least unless/until
Heart of the Mists. HotM is the main hub of PvP activity in GW2, this is the lobby where most people hang out while waiting in queue. To get here simply click the crossed swords icon at the bar found in top left corner of your screen. Here PvP gear becomes active and your character is temporarily boosted to level 80.
