Hello, I am relatively new to Guild Wars 2 since I have had it for a longer time (the free version), but I have never gone past level 21. Now, my question for you guys is: "Is it worth playing on a free account?". The limitations seem pretty OK to my eyes, but I do not think I have the necessary experience to judge this.

Anyway, what I'm saying is, Guild Wars isn't afraid to carve it's own path, and that makes for some amazing ideas. The only caveat is that you have to change how you look at MMOs a bit, as WoW formed our expectations. Also, while I'm commenting, I want to add that 1-80 and the personal story, while highly enjoyable, can drag for some players.
PvP has always been free in gw2. Pvp is free for core specialisations. ie. You need an expansion for thr elite specs and other players will be using them. Feel free to jump into it but you will likely get curb stomped. People who said here that pvp was always free are not fully right.
The caveat is that free accounts come with restrictions on certain features that could be used to
While there is no level cap for F2P accounts, keep in mind you can't get masteries - anyone with these will have a yellow number replacing their level (in white if no masteries) and can go higher than 80. If you see players with yellow 'level's higher than 80 (max), that's what it is. Masteries don't add stats or change how gear/skills work for
8MoM. You don't have to, no - but if you decide to purchase the game you will be getting one of the two expansions. The core Guild Wars 2 experience is completely free, though free accounts have a number of restrictions on them . Currently, you can no longer just buy the core guild wars 2 game as both expansions include it.
2. 4. Guild Wars 2 is NOT free to play. No, just no. Guild Wars 2 is definitely not free to play. What you get for free is essentially a demo. You get the very first part of the game. Basically, you get an incomplete game. They sucker you in with the word "free". And after they have you they say "Hey, guess what, your adventure is incomplete.
The restrictions are there to safeguard what had already been established and protect what would be added later. Gold is exactly as useful for the F2P version as it needs to be. You are free (pun intended) to not like it. It won't change and the game as a whole is better for it.

Fribbtastic. •. Guild Wars 1 concept was and is buy-to-play. Guild Wars 2 is "play-for-free"! There is a small difference IMO between "free-to-play" and the "play-for-free" even though those sound similar. Usually, a free-to-play game is something you, well, can play for free completely and only have microtransactions in the game for
